Verner Panton "Bachelor" chair Fritz Hansen (Danemark), 1953 -1955
This is Verner Panton’s first success. The construction and appearance of this chair is very simple. It consists of a tubular steel frame with a slung seat of suede leather. Designed in 1953, this is an original production manufactured by Fritz Hansen. These chairs were called “Bachelor” because they were designed for a starter home but it also did well in the business sector. They were very easily disassembled into individual components. The ‘knock down’ principle and its simple construction made it a competitive export product. The side section is N-shaped and linked by two intermediate struts.
