VICO MAGISTRETTI SET OF 2 "CARIMATE" CHAIRS ITALY - 1960
An icon of Italian design, the Carimate chair combines a lacquered solid wood frame with a handwoven straw seat. Designed in 1959 by Vico Magistretti for the Carimate Golf Club in Como, from which it takes its name. It perfectly balances rustic charm with modernist clarity.
Blending Scandinavian functional minimalism with a renewed interpretation of the traditional Italian wood-and-straw chair, the Carimate quickly became one of the most emblematic creations of 20th-century Italian design after being produced by Cassina.
