“SL 58” CHAIR
LEON STYNEN "SL 58" CHAIR BELGIUM - 1958
The iconic SL58 is the most famous furniture design of Leon Stynen, an architect, urban planner and designer. The chair was sent to the 1958 Brussels World Fair by Antwerp based company Straatman, Loral and Cie and winned fame together with a modernist cover of the facade of Palais 5, that he designed.
Together with his assistant Paul de Meyer (1922-2012), he designed a simple, elegant and stackable chair that consists of a performed plywood seat resting on a tubular steel base. This chair is known as being one of the only pieces of furniture that described well his style, modernist and functionalist.
