GAe AULENTI for Knoll Pair of "Orsay" chairs Italy - 1970s
The model “Orsay” chair is defined by its bent and welded steel structure, creating a silhouette that is both graphic and light. The seat and backrest, with their enveloping forms, are made from a single sheet of molded plywood, upholstered in blue fabric.
Designed in the early 1970s by Gae Aulenti, this piece belongs to the Orsay series, developed during the transformation of the Gare d’Orsay in Paris into a museum. Part of the Aulenti Collection, this line received the Design Center Stuttgart Award in 1977.
Produced by Knoll International between 1975 and 1979, the Orsay series is now considered rare, giving this chair true collectible value.
