JAN VLUG PAIR OF TABLE LAMPS NETHERLANDS - 1970s

Born in the Netherlands, Jan Vlug was a Dutch art historian, interior architect and designer who studied art history in London, then lived in Paris and Brussels.
As a military man, Vlug was heavily involved in the effort to recover works of art belonging to the Netherlands from 1944 to 1946. He then moved to Paris, where he worked as a painting restorer before settling in Brussels in the 1950s. In addition to collecting and selling art pieces, Vlug became a renowned interior architect, designing furniture and lighting and working with Jules Wabbes to fit out interiors including the Société Générale de Belgique building in Brussels.
This pair of cylindrical alabaster lamp bases are dating from the 1970s and attributed to Jan Vlug.
