In the heart of Brussels, we took on the challenge of a complete architectural renovation of a studio located in a listed Brutalist building. From its perch on the fourth floor, it offers breathtaking views over a park and the city.
The challenge lay in meeting the needs of a compact domestic program while preserving the architectural heritage of the building. We therefore carried out meticulous research into 1970s materials and had the opportunity to reclaim brown-toned tiles, which we carefully reinstated. The choice of mosaics came just as naturally, ensuring coherence with the existing. At this intimate scale, our aim was to prioritize authenticity and reuse.
The furniture, selected with the same level of care, consists of pieces with a strong character, in dialogue with the spirit and era of the building - such as the iconic deckchair by the renowned architect of the Villa Cavrois, Robert Mallet-Stevens.
