MILKY WAY BLUE

MAISON RHIZOMES is a collection of hand knotted rugs created in 2018 by artist and painter Charlotte Culot.

This hand knotted rug borrowed inspiration from Henri Matisse’s body of work, specifically in his last decade, when he frequently used the paper cutting technique. The Milky Way rug comes to life powerfully when woven in its largest scale and when presented on a wall, just like a mural. This model is composed mainly of silk, giving it an elegant shimmering effect, similar to that of a mirror.
